Swimming Lessons
Serving the Greater East Bay including San Leandro, Castro Valley, Hayward, Oakland, and San Lorenzo, CA.
The KIDS level is where confident beginners turn the corner from assisted movement to real swimming. These swimmers are past the early jitters, able to put their face in the water, hold their breath, and float with support. At this stage, our goal is to help them connect those early wins into smooth, controlled movement.
We keep the energy calm and the feedback clear. Instructors guide swimmers through each new skill with patience, consistency, and encouragement. Progress happens naturally when kids feel safe, challenged, and capable. With every kick, float, and glide, they get closer to swimming independently and with control.

Benefits of the Kids Swim Level
This level lays the groundwork for everything that comes next. We focus on breath control, floating, and forward movement with intention. With repeated practice and positive reinforcement, swimmers develop the confidence to let go of assistance and start taking strokes on their own.
Classes move at a pace that fits each child. Instead of pushing for quick results, we work on solid habits that stick. Whether it’s holding a backfloat, gliding in streamline, or lifting their head to breathe, each small improvement builds toward full stroke readiness.

COMMON FAQS ABOUT THE KIDS LEVEL
Who is the KIDS level for?
This level is for swimmers who are past the fearful stage but not yet swimming on their own. Most are ages 5 to 8, comfortable getting their face wet, and ready to work on basic skills.
What’s taught in this level?
Swimmers practice front floats, back floats, breath control, basic kicking, and assisted streamlining. These are the early pieces of strong swimming.
Do kids need to know how to swim already?
Not yet. They should be comfortable in the water and able to float with help, but full independence isn’t required to begin. That’s what they’ll build here.
How big are the classes?
We keep classes small to give each swimmer the attention they need. That way, instructors can provide more feedback, and kids feel more supported.
Will my child learn strokes in this level?
This level introduces the very beginning of freestyle and backstroke, but the main focus is control, body position, and comfort with movement. Full stroke work comes next.
What comes after the KIDS level?
Once a swimmer can float independently, kick with direction, and manage their breath, they’re ready to move into full stroke development. This can be in our Beginners class or Intermediate, depending on how well they are doing.
Can I watch the lessons?
Yes. Parents are welcome to observe from the viewing area. We encourage it, it helps swimmers feel supported and gives parents a chance to see progress.
What if my child is nervous about class?
That’s normal. Our instructors are trained to help kids ease in and feel comfortable. We don’t rush. Each child gets the time and support they need.
